TRISTAN ALGRET, 2X PWA WORLD YOUTH SLALOM CHAMPION
Tristan not only renewed his 2013 PWA World Youth Slalom Championship this year (& third in a row for the Loftsails Racing Blade design!), he also challenged the PWA “big boys” during the 2014 slalom racing season.
Tristan’s year highlight was surely his performance in Turkey, where he surprised everyone making it into 4 of the finals- a first for his career! Tristan finished 8th in the event, and in the top 20 for the PWA slalom season!
Tristan will surely be one to watch for next year.
1. What is your first impression after your second World title?
I’m really happy to do it one more time! This year was a success for me because I realized all my goals!
The youth world title was one of these, I finished 20th on the annual ranking too! I fought hard with Jordy Vonk during the year, a good thing for the two of us- to improve our levels and push the big boys!
2. Very nice pictures of Nouméa event, and also lot of action during races!!!… would you describe spot and its conditions?
The Noumea Dream Cup was a great event with amazing wind conditions, the organizers Mika and Yann did something amazing! It’s maybe the best event I did in two years on the world tour.
The spot is flat the morning, and around 3.00pm the spot becomes very choppy ! I did a big crash during one semi final!
3. What sails did you use during event?
I used my Racing Blade 2014 7.8 and 7.0 with my Patrik SL 115 V2 during the four racing days.
4. What is your program for the winter?
For the moment I stay in France with my friends to relax and spend time on the mountain.
I will soon start training with my coach Jean Jacques RIVET, and soon and prepare for travelling to different windsurfing locations around the world- with challenging conditions… for maximum 2015 preparation.
5. How are you going to approach the next 2015 season, not in the youth class anymore, and competing with the “big boys”?
I’m really motivated! Next year I will be in the mix with the big boys, I think I can do something… I’m excited to have made an impact at the PWA events this year, especially Alacati! I am happy with my 2014 results.
Soon I start my training with the excellent coach Jean Jacques Rivet. I work on preparations for this winters training sessions in St Barth , Guadeloupe and Tenerife!
